Medieval Music
Alla Rustica is a fellowship of musicians, researchers, and practitioners of early and traditional music, under the artistic direction and curatorship of Maiko Thomé de Araujo, dedicated to the organization of repertoires from different periods and styles for performances, themed fairs, concerts, and lectures. For each program and purpose, teams are formed with specialists in the relevant instruments and subjects.
The group performs repertoires of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Latin American Colonial Music.
In addition to programs aimed at historical reconstruction, Alla Rustica also presents traditional music repertoires, such as Celtic, Nordic, Iberian, Eastern European, and others, using traditional instruments. One of its main purposes is to broaden the horizons of early music practice by investigating and experimenting with this music not only on the basis of historical and documentary evidence which, although fundamental, should be understood as clues, but also by reconstructing, from them, interpretations that unite intelligence, sensitivity, and genuine artistic inspiration.
